A wood store is useful to store and dry wood, a small wood store can keep a supply of firewood close to the house for those horrible dark winters nights. Saving a trek to the end of the garden on a stormy wet day.
It can be a multi purpose storage area. Storing wood of all different sizes to start and maintain a fire. Coal storage etc.
At least eight years ago I knocked up some rough wood stores to keep wood near the house. These were not the best, but they have stored wood all these years and kept it dry. They just don't look that great and are at the end of their life.
So I looked at some replacements, most places want £120 for a small wood store. I wanted to have two new ones to replace the old ones.
After a looking on eBay I bought a roll of roofing felt for £10 and built these.
They are still simple and easy to make. Using just a few pallets worth of wood.
A couple of improvements over the originals. Slated sides and backs to keep the wood contained under the roof. Felted roof so the roof is fully water proof. Hopefully look a bit nicer.
Other than the roofing felt I used some 2x1 wood around the roof and at the back of the store. Which was left over from a previous project. The roofs are made of 12mm chip board that comes as part of some of the pallets I collect.
The roofing felt is attached via staples that are fixed via a staples gun. The main screws are standard decking screws.
This project will take a few hours but only requires basic wood work skills.
